Stansted Airport – Standard 3 Departures Baggage

Stansted Airport – Standard 3 Departures Baggage

As part of the instruction of ECAC standard 3 baggage screening facilities into the airport there was a need to ensure the new mezzanine structures and baggage systems did not affect existing apron level operations. During a site visit C-TAS identified a significant number of safety risks and non-compliances with the Health and Safety at Work Act. These issues were presented to the airport’s senior management by senior members of the C-TAS team and we were appointed to develop a compliant road and pedestrian access layout. View project
Gatwick Airport – South Terminal OOG Cluster

Gatwick Airport – South Terminal OOG Cluster

Following the construction of a new departures baggage hall at Gatwick’s South Terminal, the old hall was adapted to consolidate all the OOG input and outputs in a centralised location to provide an efficient operation with surplus capacity. The project consisted of a multi-disciplinary design team including, architecture, structural and M&E engineering and baggage system design. C-TAS were appointed as a specialist traffic engineer due to our unique understanding of both vehicle and pedestrian requirements as well as baggage operations. View project
London City Airport – Interim Forecourt Design

London City Airport – Interim Forecourt Design

London City Airport is constrained by the River Thames and the Docklands Light Railway which limits its ability to move key airport operational areas to facilities space for construction. C-TAS were appointed by the airport to develop a phased approach to the construction works and mitigate two significant project risks. These were maintaining live airport landside operations and public safety during construction. View project
Heathrow Airport – Cargo Tunnel Refurbishment

Heathrow Airport – Cargo Tunnel Refurbishment

The Cargo Tunnel at Heathrow Airport provides a critical operational link between the Terminal 4 / Cargo area and the Central Terminal Area (CTA). The Cargo Tunnel facilitates a large number of vehicle movements for cargo, catering, maintenance vehicles, airport operations and transferring passengers. The Cargo Tunnel was designed and constructed in the 1960s and received a system upgrade in the mid-1990’s, however since then the tunnel has received limited attention. View project
Heathrow Airport – Red Arrivals Terminal

Heathrow Airport – Red Arrivals Terminal

Following the introduction of the UK Governments travel traffic light scheme as part of the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, C-TAS were appointed by Heathrow Airport (via Dyer and Butler) to assist with reviewing the airside road network from Terminal 5 to Terminal 4 via Cargo for transporting passengers to Terminal 4 using articulated coaches. Responding to the last-minute request from Heathrow Airport, C-TAS undertook a site visit, attended live trials within a couple of days and, following the onsite assessment, developed concept road layout changes for review and approval. Following confirmation of the layouts, production design was undertaken for Dyer and Butler to install the following night. View project
